As part of his commitment to educational development in Ibarapa Land, member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, on Saturday attended the Inter-School Debate Competition organised by the Federation of Idere Students’ Union (FIDSU), praising the union for encouraging academic excellence among young learners.
Speaking at the event, Ibarapakan said the initiative has further explained why Idere continues to excel in intellectual competitions across the region and beyond. According to him, the community’s consistent investment in education is producing outstanding young talents capable of competing favourably at any level.
The debate competition featured participants from both secondary and primary schools. The lawmaker described the participants in the contest as future leaders and ambassadors of the community.
As part of his support for the programme, Ibarapakan announced cash rewards for outstanding participants. He pledged that, beyond his continuous commitment to supporting FIDSU and its educational initiatives, the winners in the secondary school category would receive N50,000 for first position, N30,000 for second position and N20,000 for third position. He extended the same gesture to the primary school category, with N50,000, N30,000 and N20,000 awarded respectively to the first, second and third-placed contestants.
The federal lawmaker also appreciated the executives of FIDSU for their contributions towards educational advancement in Idere, describing their efforts as commendable and worthy of emulation. He noted that the union had continued to play a vital role in encouraging academic excellence and creating opportunities for young people to showcase their talents.
He, however, urged the students to remain focused on their studies and uphold values that would bring honour to their families and community. He enjoined them to be good ambassadors of Ibarapa Land wherever they find themselves, assuring them of his continued support for programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing education and youth development across the constituency.
