A violent mob attack in Potiskum, Yobe State, reportedly left one man dead after two men were accused of being in a same-sex relationship in an obvious incident which occured on February 14, 2026.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Tamir Guest House, located along the Bauchi–Jos Road. Witnesses confirmed that the two men were discovered together before an angry crowd gathered and attacked them. One of the men reportedly died at the scene after being beaten and stoned by the mob. The second man escaped and his whereabouts remain unknown.
The Command has made several attempts to contact and invite Agu to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Yobe State Police Command, to assist with the investigation. Despite repeated invitations and requests for his cooperation, he has failed to make himself available to investigators.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police CP Usman Kamfani Jibrin has directed that Ndubuisi Paul Agu be declared wanted in connection with the ongoing investigation. His arrest has been authorised and bring him before the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yobe State Police Command for questioning by .
The incident has drawn attention to the dangers faced by individuals accused of homosexuality in Nigeria, where same-sex relationships are criminalised and members of the LGBTQ+ community continue to face discrimination, violence, and social stigma.
